Frequently Asked Questions

Who can benefit from your treatments?

Acupuncture, cupping, and herbal medicine can effectively treat a wide array of ailments. I have treated patients with pain from sports injuries, arthritis, anxiety, addiction, insomnia, women's health and fertility, digestive issues, and more. By stimulating the nervous system and triggering the body's immune response to release endorphins and inflammatory modulators, pain and illness can be treated in a safe and effective manner without the use of harmful chemicals.

Is acupuncture painful?

Acupuncture needles are extremely thin and can be placed into the skin with minimal to no discomfort. There are different styles of practicing acupuncture and varying strengths of manipulation, which can be tailored to patients. Some patients prefer a stronger treatment whereas others prefer a lighter, more gentle one. I work with every patient differently to make sure they receive the most effective treatment without discomfort or pain.

How many acupuncture sessions are typically needed?

While I would love to give a prescriptive answer, the truth is that each patient is unique and different. Each patient I treat is for something specific happening in their body, whether that's pain, lessening stress and anxiety, or smoothing facial wrinkles. I work with you to figure out what you're seeking in your treatment and give a recommendation of what treatment plan is right for you. If you have questions about the number of treatments for a specific condition, I would be happy to chat with you prior to your first visit to give you a clearer sense.

How will I feel after a treatment?

Many patients feel relaxed after acupuncture, much like you might after a massage or meditation practice. Some soreness and aching is common after treatments for chronic pain with especially gua sha and cupping, but this dissipates quickly. The patient then feels the effects of the pain relief. Of course, there are varying effects depending on each person's condition and type of treatment. I will ensure that you are feeling safe and comfortable after each treatment and answer any questions you might have.

What is the cancellation policy?

I ask that my patients cancel their appointments 24 hours prior to the appointment time.

What insurance do you accept?

Although every patient's insurance plan is different, many provide acupuncture coverage. I am currently in-network with Providence, Pacific Source, and Blue Cross Blue Shield (Regence, Premera, Anthem), and will be happy to bill directly with them. For patients with alternate insurance, I will provide them with all necessary documentation to submit to their insurance companies for reimbursement for out-of-network acupuncture treatments.
